Media QC Guidance Copilot
Built from years of hands-on streaming QC and metadata operations, this design study explores how a retrieval-grounded assistant could surface dense guidance without substituting fluent text for evidence.
Scope: independent portfolio work. This is a design standard, not a claim of employer deployment, approval, adoption, or measured performance.
Problem
Media-quality guidance can be dense and context-dependent. Under time pressure, a fast, plausible answer is dangerous when an operator cannot see what supports it—or when the available evidence is too weak to support an answer at all.
Judgment
The goal was not to automate the operator’s decision. It was to accelerate access to relevant guidance while preserving the source boundary, uncertainty, and accountability that expert review requires.
Approach
- Retrieve before generating. Constrain the response to approved guidance.
- Make support visible. Return an answer with its source trail and explicit uncertainty.
- Fail closed. When evidence is weak, stop rather than invent certainty.
- Keep the operator accountable. The human interprets the evidence and owns the consequential decision.
Result / what it demonstrates
The project defines a reviewable workflow and stopping rules for a grounded assistant. It demonstrates how domain experience in video, multitrack audio, timed text, metadata, regional context, severity, and escalation can shape safer applied-AI design.
